How did your course fair with the recent storm? On Wednesday there was 2" of snow so no Winter League, then the folowing day winds of 80 mph. Today we received the followiing:-

"Following the extreme winds on Thursday 8th December, a large number of trees on all courses have been blown down fully or partially. Naturally, there is an enormous amount of debris on the courses and there is a risk to golfers, at this time, due to both the debris and trees down.

The Wee Course has now been opened for play but both Lansdowne and Rosemount will remain closed on Friday 9th December.

On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December, Lansdowne will be open and Rosemount closed.

In May when we had similar storm damage a terrific effort by staff and members cleared the courses within a few days. Unfortunately daylight at this time of the year will not contribute to such a rapid operation, therefore I would ask that members remain patient during the clear up operation."

Has anyone else had similar damage at their course?

Good job I'm playing at Gullane on Sunday.

Hirsel had a big leylandi tree split right down the middle.

Managed to cut up the half that lay on the fairway but are awaiting a tree feller to do the other half on Monday so meantime a big area has been cordoned off.

Lucky escape with the only other damage being a few limbs.

It is now covered in 5 inches of snow though that has fallen this morning!!

Was up at my club yesterday and there didn't seem to be too much damage by the storm. Some obvious debris lying about, but nothing of any real significance. The storm in May did for any weakened tree's or boughs as then they were all in full leaf and didn't stand a chance.

I haven't been near my course since but given how tree lined it is I'd be surprised if no trees came down.

We had 2 trees come down in strong winds earlier this year

No major damage noticed this morning, one tree down but it wasn't one that you would say was in play anyway so many probably won't notice it's gone. Lots of wee bits of debris. Thankfully the snow is staying away (for now) so there will be a good chance of clearing it up over the next few days.
