Anyone played Stoneham Golf Club ( Richard Blands home course and Matt Le Tissiers local course) in Southampton? I have a Society golf day there Weds and wondered what its like to play?
We have a reciprocal there. Played it many times, but don't ever play 36 holes there. Playing the 18th once is quite enough, unless you have mountain goat tendencies.Played it many times over the years but not for quite a while. Heard just last weekend that they have been having big issues with course conditioning. A huge number of trees have been taken out which has led to drainage problems and I heard that there have been problems with the greens as well.
The layout though is good with an unusual run of 3 par 3's in 4 holes in the middle of the course.
I played there a few years ago, nice layout with the exception of the 9th and 11th I didn't feel they were in keeping with the rest of the course. 5th was my favourite hole little sever dogleg right par 4 followed by a really nice par 5 6th.
18th is a severely up hill par 5 but a good hole.
