Anyone played Stoneham Golf Club ( Richard Blands home course and Matt Le Tissiers local course) in Southampton? I have a Society golf day there Weds and wondered what its like to play?

It's a nice track. The only hole i was unsure about was the really long par 3 on the front nine. We played off the whites into a strong wind and had to hit a driver to a blind green. There are a few holes that require strategy off the tee rather than blasting a driver.

Played it many times over the years but not for quite a while. Heard just last weekend that they have been having big issues with course conditioning. A huge number of trees have been taken out which has led to drainage problems and I heard that there have been problems with the greens as well.

The layout though is good with an unusual run of 3 par 3's in 4 holes in the middle of the course.

We have a reciprocal there. Played it many times, but don't ever play 36 holes there. Playing the 18th once is quite enough, unless you have mountain goat tendencies.;)

Some very quirky holes, and the narrowest green I think I have ever played.

I played there a few years ago, nice layout with the exception of the 9th and 11th I didn't feel they were in keeping with the rest of the course. 5th was my favourite hole little sever dogleg right par 4 followed by a really nice par 5 6th.

18th is a severely up hill par 5 but a good hole.

Interesting, I think the 11th is one of the best holes on the course.

The first eight were all good, don't know why I didn't like 11 perhaps it's the way the green seems to be separated from the fairway by the little valley, I don't think it suited my eye and I didn't play it well.
