I bought a second hand T.M v steel 3 wood a few weeks ago with a stiff shaft. It works brilliantly, launching the ball higher than my old regular shaft one, it goes about 250 and feels way more controlable, i think this could be down to the shaft? Anyway i was wondering if you could give me any advice about wether or not a stiff shafted driver would be a good choice for my next driver if and when i get one?

if it's any help i hit 6 iron 170, Driver 260-280.

Sounds like the stiff shaft might be your answer, Lloydy. Depends on your swingspeed usually. Surprised you get more loft than with the regular, though. It's usually the other way round. Is the loft the same as your old wood? Personally, I moved from stiff to regular to get more carry and overall distance.

I forgot to mention that the shaft on my old 3 wood was a regular STEEL shaft, but it was still more flexable than my new shaft, yes the lofts are both 15degrees.

Ah. That explains it. You'll still get more "kick" in a graphite shaft. I tried my pal's graphite shafted irons one day and was hitting his 8 iron 175 yards....everywhere on the planet! What's the bloody use in that? I'll stick to steel in the irons for control and graphite in the big boys.

Yes my old irons were graphites, hit short irons so far but
uncontrolable, i was wondering why i could hit a 9 iron as far as Tiger... Lol
