I am currently looking for a new 3 wood and it has never occurred to me before to try a steel shafted wood, they are readily available in most stores they just don't seem very popular. I understand that steel shafts are used in irons of people who generate faster club head speed rather than graphite for those who are slower, and I understand the other benefits of using steel in your irons, but why are steel shafts used in woods? I have certainly never seen anybody using one not a pro or amateur so I was wondering what the point in them was other than to provide a cheaper alternative.
Do excuse me if this is a silly question.
