Staycation at home, otherwise domestic holiday. In my book. We are ‘domesticating’ in Norfolk in a few weeks and ‘staycaing’ at the end of the holidays.

You state you have gone on holiday, why use another word for it? Are you trying to make it sound better/posher/more expensive to your pals/social media followers?
Barking mad IMO
The only place I've ever used the term 'staycation' is on here for a bit of fun. After someone said it irritated them.

If people want to call a holiday a staycation, its not really worth worrying about.

What does this mean to you?

To me it has always meant staying at your own home and having days out.

In the end though, language evolves. The Marketeers, Advertisers and Media hold a lot of sway to influence, and the sheep-le will follow (only joking :);))

Didn’t realise anyone was arguing in this thread. Thought it was all just banter. Couldn’t care less what word is used, only that I understand the meaning. But as for apostrophes…!
