Stats

My last round i got 2 birdies 5pars i hit 4 fairways 2 greens
no sand saves out of 1 and i got up n down loads for the pars
cant tell you much more than that cos i havent got my card on me!
I used to have 36-38 putts cos i dont practise enough but recent form with the short game has got that down loads but havent counted yet!

Hi mooseantler,

Yes I keep stats. 8 basic ones;-

Fairways hit
Greens in Regulation
Putts per round
Sand saves
Birdie Conversion
Par scrambles
Driving distance
Penalties per round

For me the first six are the ones I look at most, trying to improve, year on year. The program I use keeps track of everything, pars, birdies etc too. Very useful.

Out of interest how do you do that?

I'm getting images you heading down the course with a notepad and an accountants calculator strapped to your left leg!

It's either that or you have the memory of an elephant.

Either way I take my hat off to you.

Nearest ive come is to make up a little shorthand system to mark on the card e.g OB1= 1 ball out of bounds,3P- three putt, OFIHTG- oh feck I hate this game etc. The only chink in this otherwise bulletproof system is that I can't for the life of me rememeber what each meant when I get to the 19th and i can't read my own handwriting anyway.

Easy peasy, guys.

There's a wee computer program called Scoresaver2 which I downloaded. A few guys on the forum use it.

You print out a card of your course, like below, and simply fill in the details or circle the appropriate box as you go round.

I then fill in the info onto my PC from the card when I get home and the program analyses everything for you. Tells you what percantage of fairways/greens etc you hit. Even tells you your average driving distance if you're into that kind of thing. Tells you whether you're missing long, short, left right etc.

Isn't technology wonderful?

It is Basher. £40 one off payment. I got it for £20 with a special promotional code which I'm pretty sure only works once, though.

You can download a free one month trial from the website, though.

Doesn't work for a Mac- bah!

Still, I think I could probably knock something like that up. Thanks for the tip,

bill

Only just downloaded last week and have just entered last years stats.

As said there are quite a few guys here use it.

As for £40. I used to use the How-did-i-do website where our club posts all our medal comp results. This costs £15 a year and does not have the same amount of stats as Scoresaver 2. Therefore i feel the £40 is not too bad at all.

All i can say is download it and try the 30 day free trial

for me the only stats i keep r - 3 putts and putts per round (only on green -no fringe putting)..cause that`s where my score comes from !

what`s in the bag-
g10 7.5 deg
g10 3wood 15.5
cleveland `halo 19 deg
mizuno zoid `pro 2`s
cleveland wedges pw ,52 ,60.
odyssey 2 ball

John

Yes I did. Always felt last season that i didn't hole enough birdie putts. The stats did not show that much difference between putts per green missed and GIR. Guess i am not holing enough par putts as my par scrambles were quite low

I cannot speak highly enough about Scoresaver 2. Don't be put off by the £40 hit. This is a one off and for that not only do you get more stats than you can shake a TM Burner demo driver at but it also allows you to record details of your practice session, record lessons so you can remember what you were working on and you can even record matchplay results and build up a golfing history.

It is a seriously good piece of kit and comes with the Homer Simpson seal of approval.

Similar with me, Stuart. I guess that's the difference between us and "the good guys"

I play with a few low handicappers now and again and they're always making the chips and the putts that I don't. Anything over 6 feet's a struggle for me, most days. At least I know what to work on this year.

This tells me the lot.

P.S. I cheat on the driving distance stats by only ever taking a guess at my 2 best drives of the round! I can't be bothered trying to guess them all.
