Off to St Andrews on Sunday.:whoo:

Clubs cleaned, shoes polished, new balls marked up, and handicap certificate printed. Have I forgotten anything, oh yes waterproofs and thermals.

Playing the Jubilee Monday, Castle Tuesday, Old Course Wednesday, and Carnoustie Friday. Possible day off on Thursday, although Pitlochry golf course looks very very tempting.;)

Save all the interesting threads until I get back.

Well Jel. How long ago did you book the old course Rich?
August 2012 Sean. Good deal though three courses at St Andrews for £220, and you can choose your tee times. Also got a voucher for £15 to spend in the clubhouse. Well worth a bit of forward planning.

Serious question Rich..

Planning it that far ahead, did you have any concerns that you might actually not be able to make it? Any Insurance or the like...?

ps - have a great time and try to stay dry!

I'm not that old that I can't plan a year ahead.

We go as a 4 ball, but you can change the players apart from me as the 'team leader'. The forum comes in very handy if someone drops out. One of our group can't make Carnoustie, but a quick thread on here soon got an able replacement.

You need to pull down your pants, and slide on the ice Ian.

Have a good time - as stevek1969 says it's peeing it down here and looks like you'll see a good bit of rain - but with those courses you should survive - I'd save Pitlochry for a summer's day, not sure I'd like to play it in the rain

Hope you all have a great time Rich. I guess Pitlochry wouldn't be too much fun in the wind and rain...but after the first few holes I reckon you would be above the clouds anyway!!

have fun Rich - but don't get too excited at your age as that is when accidents happen:D

You could try Ladybank if you fancy a heathland experience in Scotland - not unlike your place

That is a pretty good deal even though it is "shoulder Season". I'm off to play the Eden tomorrow for £28. The weather forecast doesn't look too bad, so fingers crossed.

I notice now that you can only use soft spikes, so I'll need to get some new cleats before then.

Now that sounds like a great golfing adventure  Is it your first time playing at St Andrews Rich? Hope you have an amazing week :)
Cheers Tiger, second trip went two years ago and we were really lucky with the weather. Best golfing experience I have had.

I will try and stay dry Paul. Played Ladybank last time, very nice course, but not as good as the links ones.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. Keep your fingers crossed for the weather for us.
