Hello everyone!
Well I'm in my late twenties, and realise I've not really got any hobbies nor anything to keep my competitive side under wraps. I played when I was in my teens, but haven't touched it in 10 years.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on places I could start looking for someone to golf with? At the moment membership at a course is out of my budget, so would like to join a member of a club on a few rounds before I commit.
Any advice appreciated!

No friends that play? If not best to ask at your local clubs to see if anyone is short of numbers. Also plenty of people on here that arrange games. Where you from and welcome to the forum

Unfortunately not, moved around a bit with work so my social circle is small in this area.

I'm from Chesterfield!

Presume you mean Chesterfield in Derbyshire. If so then your in luck as that's where I am from originally. I am based there and in the NW now. I can offer you advice on all the clubs and places to go.

I'd expect it to be pretty poor, but I wouldn't expect anyone to have to deal with that, I'd go to driving range and do some lessons before I ventured out on 18 holes!

I've mainly been looking at Tapton, and Chesterfield golf club. Both seem nice, and easy for me to get to!

For a newby wanting to mix and find playing partners Tapton is your best bet. I play a Tapton regular when in the area. Very friendly place and members, they have a 9 hole course as well which is o.k to practice on. The main 18 hole course is a tough test of golf anyone who plays to handicap on there will have done well. Chesterfield golf club is a very nice private members club with the facilities to match such as practice ground, fancy clubhouse, fully stocked golf shop and large locker rooms etc however it is very pricy and can be a bit stuffy and hard to make new friends. If it were me Tapton is your best bet by a mile

Yeah, I kind of figured that about Chesterfield golf club, prices seemed steep and the directors at my old company I worked at were members (not my cup of tea).

Thanks for the advice, I'll be checking out Tapton!

Yep Tapton will be your best bet. What area in Chesterfield are you from as there are other courses as well nearby depending on which side of town you are from. Anyway good look at Tapton one of the guys that work down there will be more than willing to help you out
