After two years and three months working at the local petrol station as a "stop gap" between jobs while the job market was so bad I have found a job working on National Trust properties.
Pay isn't great to start with as I don't have any formal qualifications and all my experience has been on private jobs but I hope it goes up pretty quickly.
Also looking forward to a job I can get my teeth into again and not sitting saying "Pop your card in, enter your pin, take your card, thank you and bye!"

Good stuff - have you got any spare torches, or xmas tree car smellies? The lavender ones, if available. :)

Barbecue coals, windscreen wash or even tokens for the car wash....

Fat lot of good, you are!:D

Barbecue coals: didn't sell it.
Screen wash: I ride a bike and find it useless on my visor.
Car wash tokens: It's a buy time machine so no token.

Bloody useless aren't I!
:mmm:

well done, I did a Petrol station for about 5 mths- this was in the days you could smoke behind the till-

what Job will you bee doing with the NT?

I'm not working for the NT directly but for a contractor that they use for their building work as he is skilled at the traditional methods that they need for their listed buildings. I will be learning how to do the various methods from lime rendering to lathe and plaster.
I enjoy learning new skills so this is right up my street.

Good stuff, you will be doing a worthwhile job for the heritage of our country. I can't imagine the pay will be great, but I'm sure a lot of satisfaction should be taken for the work you'll be doing.

I ran a petrol station from 01/05/79 until 28/05/99 .................. you're well out.
I envy you working with the NT in Cornwall and I REALLY, REALLY hope it works out for you, I'm sure it will.
Now....... GO TO BED! You don't want to be late on your first day .
Please let us know how it goes you lucky, lucky sod!

First day went really well. Hard work but good fun as I'm working with a good bunch of guys. My back seems to have survived intact but my shoulders are a bit achy.
