Had my first round of the season (always count April 1st as season start) and played in a yellow ball competition. You rotate the yellow ball and it scores double points, then best 3 scores go on the card.
I've been suffering with a shoulder injury from football for the past 6 weeks and haven't really been out on the course or on the range, and with a lesson 3 weeks ago haven't really engrained my swing changes.
My swing changes were to help minimize my bad shots and try to control my ball flight and i was surprised at how well i played. I was good off the tee, one area I'm normally fairly hit and miss with, and was keeping it on the fairway or just on the fringe, club choice was also better, opting for hybrid on some occasions. Irons and short game were more controlled and my scorecard was covered in pars and bogeys which helped us get a decent score over the the 14 holes before we lost our yellow ball (my fault, lazy lay up swing after having smashed a tee shot within range of the green in 2 on a par 5...)
I was pretty pleased with my swing and am looking forward to Saturdays medal.
