So today I played Brampton Heath, used my iPhone app to try mad scout the course beforehand and didn't appear too bad. Unfortunately the app didn't show the severity of the gorse lining the fairways! Anways to cut a long round short. I had a stinker with the putter. 55 putts in all for a round of 110 and 27 points. But having never played atableford before, what's a decent target? I play off 28 btw.

36 points in stableford is your handicap. 18 points on both 9's.

27points with 55 putts 55? Is that right? An awful lot over 3 putts every hole get that fixed and your flying.
As lump says 36 is generally par may move slightly if SSS is above or below par.

55 putts?? Really? On my worst days (and I'm not a good putter) I'm not even close to 55!? Anyway, sort your putting out and you'll be on for a good score sir! My first ever Stableford I scored 22 points, and 5 rounds later, rattled in 45pts! Persevere.

Yeah seriously 55 putts!! Always seems to be one part of my game that falls apart. I managed to hit 3 par 5's GIR and all par 3's. I did mark all shots with the putter though, and officially they're only putts she. In green aren't they so that may account for a couple. Driver was pretty good today, it was only really 5/6 iron and putter that misbehaved. I won by 10 points/13 shots over my bro in law who played terribly but took 34 putts!

I started off being too cautious and left everything way to shirt, tried to so pendants and bombed past. Missed 7 from within 3 foot and that's about the one distance I'm nailed on from. Annoyingly I spent 90 minute last night practising chipping and putting 8 balls at a hole and start again, and was no worse than 24 shots at a time. Bought short game was gonna do me well today and completely deserted me!!

No not at all, I like to chip, I just seemed to 3 putt almost every hole. And like I said a couple of complete mares that had me all over the place. Most of putts were from distance and I seemed to either leave or go past by 6-8 foot and didn't drop any from there!

I have been practising lol, just checked my old card and excluding today have averaged 38 putts a round. Yet to break 100 though as something always falls apart!!
