Was up there yesterday for a wander with the Mrs. Course is looking absolutely immaculate. Walked the 18th and it was amazing with the grandstands all set up.

It has all made me eager to get myself a game, how difficult is it to get a game on the Old Course organised? What is the best method- ballots etc? And what sort of cost does it come in at?

Costs £170 per person according to Links website http://www.standrews.com/Play/Green-Fees - You need two of you to go into the ballot which is probably easiest way of getting on bar standing at the starters box early in the morning and asking to be paired up with a group that doesn't have four people

Other option is to play off peak oct/apr it's on the links trust site best to check up to date status and dates when restrictions apply.

The first time we played the old course back in 1982 it only cost £14 and we had to change in car park.

I can beat that - cost me £6 in 1987 - got signed on by a member at RAF Leuchars - was £18 to visitors but a third of visitors fee for those signed on
