Just looking at the St Andrews Links website and a low season 3 day ticket which can be used on all the St Andrews Links courses except the Old Course can be had for just £80, the ticket must be used over a 7 day period but amazingly the golf is unlimited! Add £77 and you can even play the Old Course. So in a week you can play as much golf as you like for 3 days and one day play the Old for £157 which is a bargain considering where your playing and the amount of golf you can get in!

Only draw back is you will be playing off mats on the Old Course. If you can get the weather right it is a bargain though, as the New Course and Jubilee are top courses in their own right, and we enjoyed the Eden even if they are doing a lot of work to it at the moment.

We did the three course deal in October for just over £200 that included the Old and the Castle. No mats but you did have to stay in St Andrews for you accommodation to qualify. Draw back was you had to book over a year in advance, but worth the wait

How did the accommodation prices compare to staying outside St Andrews?

Lad I play with's wife is from St Andrews and he has said he could get us a free round up there though I doubt this would be on the old course.

Would love to go up there and play, just a fair old journey.

What is the work that they're doing on the Eden? I played it a couple of weeks ago and didn't see a thing.

Putting in a load of new bunkers, and relaying the green on the par 5 near the end. Tractors everywhere when we played.

No sign of any of that a few weeks ago. The 16th green was just how it has been all year as far as I noticed. There did look like there has been some work on the Strathtyrum though.

The 16th green was being relayed. They were doing it whilst we played. It looked good the part they had done, so must have bedded in quickly. A lot of the new bunkers were GUR as they had no sand in them. Can only comment on what we saw, but pleased to hear all work is now complete. Didn't play the Strathtyrum.

Just goes to show how good the greenstaff must be. Absolutely no sign of any work having been done.
