After some advice thanks,,Ive booked a trip to St. Andrews in September, playing the new course on Friday, old course on Saturday, was hoping to squeeze a game in on the Sunday and was wondering if anybody could recommend any courses not too far away, anywhere up to an hour south/ south west of St. Andrews would be ideal.would be for two ball??was hoping there might be a few kind members that might be able to sort us out for a game :) thanks

Ladybank is cracking heathland course, but if you want links why not head North and play Carnoustie. Well worth the extra drive.

I met a member of St Andrews who was on this forum at one time, golfcitydweller. Played off 3 and he rated the Jubilee course as the best course at St Andrews. Played it last year and it was certainly a cracking course, and the hardest. He also recommended Lundin Links though I haven't played it.

The good thing is you are spoilt for choice. Personally would avoid the Castle course, which despite having a wonderful setting, and some fantastic holes, was spoilt for me by the greens.

Played with him a couple of years ago top bloke, lundin looks good, would love to play Carnoustie bit it's a bit steep, we had a look at the jubilee last time we the there looked nice so might give that a go, cheers for the advice

Get a 3 day ticket at St Andrews, was about £150 for unlimited golf on all the courses except the Old Course last time I went.

We found the Eden a great little course and the New course is up there with the Jubilee.

I saw that, looks a great offer. If nothing else comes up might do that..still thinking Carnoustie though, would it be rude to be so close and not play it :)
