What do people think about these two? I've been using pro v1s for a while after I bought a job lot of used ones off another forum member. Been getting on ok with them but at my standard I can't really tell a huge difference between them and any other ball. Anyway I found a Srixon soft feel yesterday (whilst searching for a pro v!) so thought I would try it for a few holes. Have to say I noticed a difference between that and the pro v. No loss of distance, but it just felt better off the putter and I even got a couple of chips to check up, something I can never normally do. Whats everyones opinions?

really like Srixon Z stars- excellent ball, as is Bridgestone B330, and they stay white when prov1's fade

Soft feel is not the Srixon equivalent to go like for like you'd need to try a Z star.
To compare with soft feel I'm guessing something like dts solo.
Not that much difference between pro v and z star.

[QUi,ve used soft feel for years long and they stop can,t fault them. Fraction of prov price too.OTE=SaintHacker;1119019]What do people think about these two? I've been using pro v1s for a while after I bought a job lot of used oni

I think the highlighted sentence sums it up.

At our standard I'd say over 95% of it is in the mind. You could just as easily been playing soft feels for a long time, found a Pro V1, your mind takes over and then you suddenly think it spins less off the driver and more off the wedge, goes straighter, sounds nicer, feels better off the putter etc etc. When it reality if you covered up the names and did a blind test I would not be surprised if you could not tell the difference.

But if it works for you and gives you confidence then go for the Soft Feel. As they are considerably cheaper if nothing else.;)

Imo you can't beat a brand new shiney prov1.. however since the new ad333 tour ball came out I've found quite a few, superb ball... I'd rather switch to this than use an old faded prov1!

there is no chance a soft feel spins more than a pro v!

For the OP, it might! I found them a weird ball - slightly shorter off Driver, significantly longer with irons, spun/checked fine! But it was the feel off the Putter that I didn't like, so rejected.

Play the ball you feel most comfortable with!

used to play soft feels a few years ago. no way do they check up as much as pro v on short shots etc. maybe on a well struck full shot.

That might be the case for you but not everyone.

I can tell the difference between premium balls and any other, not in feel but how they react on shots into the green. Off the driver or putter they pretty much feel the same.

as someone who plays both balls all the time (currently the bag has 23 ProV1s, 4 V1x and 9 soft feels) I think foxy's got the nub of it summed up well.

I can control a ProV more than a soft feel - the corollary being that when I'm putting a little draw on a soft-feel it's hooked with the ProV! :(

The most noticeable difference in feel is on the putter; personally I prefer the soft-feel but the very fact that there's so much difference means that there will be those who like, and dislike, either.

The firmer and faster the greens the more likely I am to use the ProV - it's really that simple.

There must be a lot of people that buy both as they are the most common pick-ups :)
