Shay Given is for me, the best keeper to have played in the premier league.
Were it not for years of loyalty to the barcodes he would have won trophies galore.

Again, and I hate to do this twice on a holy day, but I agree with you.
Even if we have to pay a couple of million over the odds, we need a proven keeper so badly that it'll be money well spent.
Do you think Jagialka is looking a bit unhappy at Everton ?

I think Jagielka needs to play in a top-side to test himself really.
He is a quality player in a comfort zone at Neverton and I know he is desperate to be involved for England.
Problem is all the time he is plugging away up there his chances are limited.
I dont think we need him but again I say, apparently Wenger has money to spend, why doesnt he spend some of it on Jagielka?

Makes a good debate that.
For me Given still edges it. Schmiechel was protected by a supremely good defense where as Given had donkeys infront of him a lot.
Bloody close one for me though as Schmiechel was absolutely top, top drawer.

Can't understand why Arsenal want Schwarzer at 39 when Given would go like a shot. I think Given is a better keeper too

Ar5ena1 are restricted on budget and wage structure due to the stadium but they should comfortably be able to afford Given.
Wenger would be a fool to choose schwarzer, a one season wonder at 39, over Given.

Thing is, why would Man City sell Given to Arsenal. They certainly do not need the money so why sell a great keeper to one of their rivals for the Champions League spots.

Hasn't Given only got one year left on his contract so could walk at the end of the season. Better to get £4-6m and money off the wage bill upfront
