Played in a charity football match on Thursday night.. sprained wrist! Thought it was broke but X-rays couldn't see a break and said it was badly sprained with bad tissue damage and stretched tendons! Looking like a few weeks to a few month off the course just as I was getting my game going in the right direction!
Anyone had a similar injury and if so how long before you were back playing??

I had a very similar sounding injury while in goal.
had a lot of trouble with wrist for years found out I had broken the scaphoid bone in my wrist common injury but is easily missed
ended having op to sort this out.
when swelling and soreness goes down try and get a second opinion as this is a very small bone but for a golfer it's a nightmare if you leave it untreated.
hopefully it's just sprained but this is usually the first bone to go in a major trauma in your wrist

Sounds like you have a grade 1 sprain, last year after an accident at work I was told I had a grade 2 sprain, had it in a cast for 2 weeks then once off I rapped it in ice 3-4 times a day.

Had to have 7 weeks off golf before I could start hitting balls again, but it was 10+ weeks before I could do 18 holes.

So give it plenty of rest and apply ice 3-4 times a day, and hopefully it won't take as long as mine.

I gave up football when I realised the injurys would start to affect my golf!

If you've done a good job on the tendons it'll take longer than a break to repair. Expect pain well beyond 10+ weeks.

Have broken my scaphoid twice in my right wrist

Both times the NHS missed the diagnosis from initial x-rays.

My recovery went on to take 12 to 16 weeks, double what it should have taken. Worth getting a second check if you are having ongoing discomfort.

Cheers everyone.. I'm absolutely devastated about it can't get out on the course! I'm gonna go back for another x ray and see if they've missed anything I'm still in absolute agony! Aslong as I'm back for the masters I will be happy haha thanks again lads
