As BT continue to muscle in on sports coverage I am becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the options available to me as a consumer.

I have Sky Sports through Virgin but am already paying a fortune for that so don't want to add BT Sports on top.

But with Sky losing Scottish football, champions league and now the Ashes and Big Bash I find the only sport I'm liable to watch on it is the golf on Sky Sports 4. But I don't have the option to only get the golf or even to only take Sky Sports 4.

BT already took MotoGP which I used to watch avidly so increasingly I think I'd be better with BT than Sky but I'd lose the golf which is my main sport viewing.

When are they going to bring in greater flexibility to allow us to see the events we want without paying through the nose for stuff in which we have no interest?

I'm considering canning Virgin completely since it's very expensive for what seems to be an ever decreasing amount of content I actually want to see.

Ironically, the push for competition has made the market more expensive for the consumer as if you wanted to keep watching the sports you were previously able to do you have to go with BT and Sky. I just accept I will miss some out as I can only justify paying for one.

I get BT sports for free as part of the Virgin TV XL package.

We're on the "L" package. I think we need to have a serious chat with them. Have had it for years and don't seem to get any of the newer features like TIVO or the "Sky Go" that someone mentioned on another thread.

Agree with the OP. I have Virgin Media TV but don't have Sky Sports as that would add the best part of £40 to my bill. Would happily pay £10 or so a month for Sky Sports 4 but cannot see any of the companies allowing us to custom pick our channels.

With the increasing money paid for sports by both Sky and BT they will need to increase the amount people pay for it

NOW TV boxes will help being able to watch Sky sports events without the need to subscribe to Sky - you can get BT Sports free with BT broadband

Once BT sports paid a billion for the CL then prices were going to go through the roof

Karen, upgrade to XL and ditch skysports and you'll retain BT sports or alternatively negotiate with Virgin and you'll find the chances are you'll get a better deal than you have with a Tivo for similar money.

Not anymore you can't. you have to pay 5 a month unless you have their TV pack too.

Ah right - I'm still on the deal I managed to grab last year - £10 a month for all BT Sport Channels

On Virgin are you able to get all Skysport channels ?

Yeah, going to have to speak to them but the core issue remains you need to pay for the full sky sports package to get sky sports 4. You can get 1 or 2 separately but there's nothing worth watching on those nowadays.

I have the Virgin big kahuna package but wasn't happy with the costs. Great that we had all the sports channels but prices were going up almost month by month. HID emailed and called customer services and lo we got £24 a month off for 12 months

I'm going to have to do something about what its costing us! With the two movies we got on box office last month it cost us £118 for the bundle of TV/phone/B'band.

How does that stack up vs the same on Sky. I thought when we signed up initially Virgin still came in cheaper but we've been on a couple of deals as we've only been here just over a year and so it's been hard to be totally accurate and wonder if we got the £24 off so easily as we've already been discounted.
