:( The best pair of shoes I have ever had to play golf in, died today. Just like a pair of brogue shoes with metal and plastic spikes to alternate with.
Now I have to find and break in some new ones before I get noticed as a tramp on the course :D

Our thoughts are with you Herb at this difficult time. May your shoes rest in peace! :(

Thankyou so much birdieman, I will be trawling through these threads now looking for shoe reccomendations, I remember one or two such threads.lol.

Iunderstand your situation,
I have a pair of footjoy classic tour shoes that belonged to Lee Westwood,He left them in a room. My cousin owned some properties directly opposite the entrance to Hoylake and rented them out to ISM the management company for Lee and many others for the Open, and we had hospitality tickets all week. Anyway i got the shoes and they have been the best pair i have had by far, although they are still a good shoe they are starting to lose there shape a bit now ,and at about £150. a pair i am dreading replacing them. :(

Ive just been on a site looking at footjoy stuff, ive seen one NEW pair up for £40, really surprised at that being so cheap, I may go for them though at that price, but Im gonna look at others though.

You are a lucky bleeder getting his shoes, I would have put them in a case in the cabinet lol.

If i had been able to prove it i would have considered it,but i have just had the satisfaction of wearing the shoes of such a class golfer , plus bragging rights :D

I have recently had a similar dilemna when I couldn't find my faithful shoes anywhere. I think I left them in the changing rooms at the club a few weeks ago but a search of the drying rooms and asking in the pro shop whether they had been handed in didn't bring a result.
I loved those shoes...a pair of Footjoy "Drydogs" (I think they were called). Really nice looking pair of shoes, about 5 years old but looked brand new after a quick tonce with some polish. They were as soft as a babies bum, and you didn't even know you had them on your feet.... :( :( :(

Have just purchased a pair of Footjoy AQL's as replacements, nice and light and cost me £60.00. Only worn them the once so far but no blisters and feel really comfy. But if my old ones ever turn up they will be my shoes of choice.
I've never been a lover of white shoes, preferring plain black, but I saw a lovely pair of Footjoy "Greenjoys" in JJB sports last week-end and for £40.00 was tempted to buy them as an additional pair for Summer use. They were really light and for some strange reason I found myself being drawn to them. I might go back when I get paid and treat myself....

I am sorry for your loss Herb. Time is a great healer but an even better healer is having £80 in your pocket and the sales assistant running round like a blue arsed fly giving you copious ammounts of new treads to try on until you find your new SOLE mate (badum Doosh) ;)

And chances are they will be Footjoy.

My old GreenJoys split after only a year of solid use so I wouldn't buy another pair. They were really comfortable but I didn't take great care of them as they were only £35

The new DryJoy pods on the other hand seem pretty indestructible and were as comfortable as slippers from day one. My only tip would be to use wooden shoe trees as soon as you take them off. It keeps any moisture out of them and helps prevent splitting.

Herb...sorry to hear of your loss!
Suggest you have a look for ETNIs.SWMBO got me a pair on ebay and they are so comfy and still waterproof after 2 years.
Having said that though,I must be a bit of a shoe slut as Ihave 5/6 pairs with another pair of ETNIscoming via that nice santa fella!!!! :D

Is it just me or is the brogue stule hard to find except in the very top of the range styles. I have an old pair of dryjoys with a nice brogue style which were no more expensive than there dryjoy (pods) range now and have lasted pretty well after regular cleaning and dubbing. Sadly though the leather is getting a little thin and finally looks like going soon and I can't find a brogue style except for the top of the range Footjoys or the Stubart Darren Clarke range which felt really hard when I lloked at them in AG. Anyone know if anyone still makes brogue designed shoes.

Split my old nikes after a years use! but they were comfy and 40 quid on a pair of shoes used to death isnt bad going o i bought a similar pair again and theyre doing just fine

I have been looking everywhere to find this style and cannot! Though I did come across carnoustie shoes does anyone know about those. (Just thinking.....Im sure it was carnoustie name???)

I think the carnoustie ones are Hi-Tech, and not greatly rated.

My shoes dies last weekend too. Soaked feet from the second hole - not good. The problem with all the internet discount sites is everytime I find a great style at the right price, they only have them in size 6 or something?

There must be some people out there with freakish small feet laughing at the choice they get over us size 9.5ers!

I dont know about Homer , but you just gave me a thrombosis!
I dont mind paying for quality, but for that price I would want the rest of the animal it was made from and the maker to come round my house and personally fit them whilst his entourage gave me a shoulder massage and served me a good brandy! All this and a free set of Ping irons thrown in or similar!

A little out of my price range and wasn't sold on the colour! I've actually dropped an e-mail to Footjoy asking why they aren't doing a brogue version in any of the ranges apart from the elite end and quoted interest on here. Should be interesting to see if a) I get any form of response and b) what they say

Yea I agree Homer I would be interested in a more realistic priced pair and I am highly confident they would sell well but then why would anyone buy the premium ranges... I can't see it catching on as it would eliminate the need for people to buy £180 shoes in order to get the brogue style, cutting footjoys / eccos / stuburts profit.

Let us know what they say if you get a response.
