One of my FCs actually fell over today wearing Spikeless shoes - while hitting a tee shot. He has a rather unconventional swing anyway with a fair amount of foot movement but with the damp grass first thing it was all too much and he hit his drive, slipped and landed on his behind. It was one of the funniest things I've seen on a golf course for a while.

For the reason of footslip, I don't tend to wear mine unless the dew has dried up.

Playing today at 9.42 so they will be spot on, but of it was a 7:30 tee of then I doubt it.

One of the chaps I was playing with a couple of weeks ago was walking down a dip on the way to a short par three (damp from the rain the previous day, slipped in his spikeless and slid to the bottom of the dip, got up covered in mud down one side, after checking he was alright I have to admit in was the funniest thing I have seen for sometime.

I will never understand why people spend so much time, effort and money getting the right shafts/wedges/grips/grinds/glove etc etc and then choose shoes that give them less grip.
The latest fashion I guess

I guess it depends an awful lot on your swing Bob, as I can't say I've experienced any less grip wearing spikeless than before, and I've worn them with wet ground/dew on the floor for quite a few months now too.

I'm completely unconvinced by spikeless shoes.
Surely any dampness and your grip goes....?
And it's no often you can guarantee dry weather in this Country...

That's exactly what happened to me - except there was a puddle at the bottom! It was on the second hole and it was no fun playing the remaining 16! The shoes went back to American Golf the following day as unfit for purpose - this being England we expect wet/damp conditions.

I have spikeless shoes and have never experienced a loss of grip in any conditions. Maybe, just maybe these slips would have happened with regular spiked shoes. Maybe some people would be better with football boots.

I spent a fair bit of cash on some lovely Oliver Sweeney dress shoes - after 10 pints of Stella, these shoes were useless and I kept falling over. I've sent them back as being unfit for purpose.

Some people should not be allowed out of the house, let alone be in charge of choosing a shoe to play golf in. Unbelievable Jeff!!!!!

Well I slipped over where my three playing partners, wearing conventional soft spikes, did not.

By your logic that is because I should not have been allowed out of the house. You are of course entitled to your opinion.

During the winter I swap out the soft spikes for good old fashioned metal spikes, but otherwise softspikes will do me just fine. I'm not convinced by the spikeless shoe.

That said I have spoken to many who use them and swear by them, in the DRY.
