Spectators standing VERY close to the tee

My god! Just watched Jordan Speith tee off on 17, and could not believe how tight the line of spectators was on the left.
I know they are pros but I'd be very nervous standing where they were!

I think the cameras give a false perspective. The spectators are close to the players but the camera shots make them seem closer.

As with the saying, the camera adds 10lbs its also true that it takes away 20 IQ points

I was just thinking about starting this thread myself the other day!

I agree, one loose one off the toe or a smother could end in a fatality if circumstances conspired.

My Dad who caddied in The Irish Open eons ago and who died in the early 90s used to remark on just how dangerous he felt this was.

I take the point about the telly seeming to compress the perspective, but all you have to do is look at what damage a ball at the end of it's 200 yard + travel can do when it hits a punter. One travelling like a rocket a close range doesn't bear thinking about.

I know the pros are good but I can't help but think that just one day it could go all Pete Tong for some poor pro and spectator.

Having been to a few events I can assure you that, for the most part, fans are well out of the line of fire.....But...
There are occasions where a snap hook could easily take someone's head off!
Yes they are to Pros - but even Pros throw in a shank every now and again.....

This, I have been to a few events and it looks a lot nearer on the tele.

It's bad enough teeing off on a society day, with 20-30 of you knobs standing behind me and then pull hooking the ball into the cabbage, I couldn't even contemplate teeing off with the gallery creating a tunnel effect.
