Rather than get my TaylorMade RAC LT's reshafted due to them possibly being a little too stiff, Im thinking of trading them in.
Ive been on the usual sites and will be heading to a few tomorrow, irons in tow, but would like to hear your thoughts, im open to virtually any marque and they dont have to be brand new, money isnt tight but I dont want to be adding hundreds for a new set if I can get a slightly used set for a ton less etc.
I would prefer a small cavity back rather than out and out blades but again, suggest away.
Are the RAC LT IIs much better than the originals if anyone knows?

Have a set of LTIIs in the garage. Tried them but I just never felt comfortable with them. A couple of friends use them and think that are very good. So if you're looking at them .... PM me.

If you can get some TM 300's in good nick they are awesome.

Otherwise,Mizuno MP60's, really pretty and come with dynamic gold shafts which are softer than Rifle's.

DCB, I got your pm matey, I borrowed as set from a local store to try them with a view to buying yours, these had the taylor made professional stiff actionlite shafts (still had more flex than my own rifle 6.0's)
Now, bear in mind I have hit two back to back 72's, today I hit into the high eighties (never counted in the end as it was a fourball betterball). This included a 4 iron that travelled a total of 140 yards into a breeze and fell 40 yards short of wher I would normally hit and also an 8 iron shanked, something I rarely do on the course.
They are going back on monday as I just couldnt hit them and if I managed to catch one at all it ballooned and went nowhere which for a self proclaimed low trajectory iron, it just didnt work.

As luck would have it though I was discussing my naff round with the lt2's and he said, "why dont you try these?" and produced a set of Titleist AP2 irons, they are by far the nicest looking clubs I have ever seen, they were built and have shaft labels for our club pro Michael Bannon but he said he will customise them for me if I can hit them better than my rac lts.

Im not even sure if these irons are on general release yet but visit the Titleist website to have a drool..

Just happened to stumble upon a set of Ping S59's in green dot, stiff shaft. Exact same as my current Ping Eye 5's. I picked them up and fell in love. They are imaculate.

Haggled a fantastic cash deal and bought them for £220.

Awesome clubs really awesome, far better than my MP60's I had about 3 years ago.

(just need to hide the next bank statement from the wife unless i can sell my Eye 5's!!!!!!!!!)

As I mentioned in another post, I had them out today and in such extreme windy conditions I still managed to shoot 77 including 2 2's at a couple of par 3's. They are an excellent club and I think Ill be putting in an offer to buy them. I cant recommend these clubs highly enough.

Single figure handicaps or those that are confident with their irons and maybe have issues with oher areas of their game, the heads from 4-6 are noticeable (though barely) and might put some off. They are a little blade like on address though any shots that didnt come out of the centre still went in the general direction I wanted them to with little loss of distance.
There is an AP1 available which has the slightly larger heads aimed at all abilities though.
To be honest, I think all new golfers should be buying clubs like these as I believe starting how you mean to go on is important, going from comedy sized club heads to blade sized heads is a daunting prospect for most. This might put a lot of people off and at the same time prevent some players from becoming as good as they have the potential to.

Went round to the club this morning, 77 was enough to win the day! It seems everyone was having the same sort of battle with the winds. Looking through the tables showing my performances this year I have made the most shop credit of everyone entered, that surprised me, cut to 2.0 from 9! haha back to 9 (club handicap for next weeks finals night though, heres hoping to another good game.
The Titleists AP2s are here to stay, I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. Search over I think.
