just watched a documentary on the building of the world cup stadium in Cape Town.
did anyone know that they closed one of the oldest golf courses in SA to build it?(don't know if was a private club or public)
i am wondering how you would feel if the goverment came in and decided that your course is being shut to build a new stadium for a major event.
as much as i love football i don't think i would be best pleased.

Potentially my course could get closed for a bloody railway line. Not for a few years though and i don't think it will happen bit its a pain

I would welcome them buildng on a couple of the courses I have been a member of. I think the local community will have more use for a stadium than a big bit of lush grass being walked on by the privileged few.

Well, over here you would no doubt have a bit of a rum do.

However, as Mad points out, I can assure that you a football ground is immensely more useful than a golf course out there. The vast majority of black Africans on golf courses out there only hold a club when they hand it over to the player...

I read an article about this and apparently the course will be remodeled around the stadium but in the meantime there's reciprocal deals with some local clubs so the members still get to play.

Bring it on. Where do I apply?
