Sottish Winter Golf - Advice needed please

Heading to St Andrews next Sunday for our anual pilgrimage from Manchester and looking for a course to play on the way, looking for somewhere that enjoys good winter conditions without going to far off track (M74 corridor) any suggestions?

Ladybank, though close to your destination so you'd need to get a move on leaving as you'd want to tee off not much later than midday. Hear good things about Silloth and it's not too far off the road.
