Has anybody read the Tom Wishon book "search for the perfect golf club"?

I stumbled across this excerpt online which talks about driver shaft length.

Put a 3 iron head on a 9 iron shaft and you'll hit it like a 6 iron. The shorter the shaft, the easier it is to hit. You may lose a little in yardage but you'll get that back with a better contact so you'll probably hit it further.
A few on here have taken their drivers down to 44 or even 43 inches with good results. Better accuracy with no loss, even a gain, in distance.
