Following a few conversations with my coach and some research she did on putter types we decided to look at my flat stick. The plan was to adjust my current putter. So today we looked at putters using a static fit tool (adjustable length and lie angle).

She also had a look at my current putter in terms of how I set up with it. And the verdict is I need something like an Anser 2, 4 degrees flat and 36 inches long. Very different to the current wand.

So looks as though I'm going putter shopping. Anyone want to buy a Scotty ;)

Putter fittings are great I got re-fitted a while back as I'd made a few changes in my posture at address.

That re-fit suggested different specs (Longer shaft and different head). Tried a putter to the new specifications and, well, couldn't get on with the thing.

Went back to my Del Mar, kepping the changes in my posture, and putting removed markedly.

There's a difference in having the right putter for you and your stroke, but quite another to have confidence in it.

Tried the tm daddy long legs with the counter balanced 38 inch shaft the other day. Very, very impressed.

If only it wasn't so pig ugly. But then I guess that's what makes it work.

I have just been to AG to have a swing with some putters and I have to concur the DDL hit all the branches falling out of the ugly tree - not sure about the really long grip either. Felt ridiculous swinging it, it just looks all wrong.

Are we talking the previous "Spider" incarnation big or the "itsy bitsy" big?

Its about 1/3 bigger than the spider! thats what put me off buying one too. Therod has the spiderblade and man that is a fine looking putter and works very nicely indeed! comes with different shaft hosel types too..

Where did you grip it? you are supposed to grip down as if it were a 34" putter, the extra shaft that is not being used acts as a counter balance. thats the whole point of it. (apologies if you knew that, just not sure that AG sales staff would!!)

So we really are talking a breeze block on a stick ....... Yikes.

But if it results in less putts then would you use it?

Personally no.

I cannot abide putters with mahoosive heads. I find them vulgar and uninspiring to look at. I also tend not to like putters with inserts as, especially with TM putters (... Especially putters with the True Roll and AGSI +C inserts), I've found the roll they give is also inconsistent. Sometimes the ball flies off the face, others, it bearly peels off the grooves, but that's just me.

It's the same with the new Scotty Cameron offering, regarding head size. Rank!

I'm not disputing your comments, but if something reduced my putting by 2-3 shots per round, every round, then I'd be all over it like Scouser on a sausage barmcake. I wouldn't care what it looked like in the slightest.. However, in total contrast to this, I'm sure there are plenty of irons out there that are more forgiving than mine, and would reduce my average round, but I'd never use them. we're complicated people us golfers....

Don't get me wrong I see, and accept your point.

However.

I could reduce my PPR figure by taking lesson(s) an honing a solid, repeatable technique that will, in all likleyhood, reduce my PPR by 3 or 4 if not more.

I would rather a repeatable stroke, rather than mask the short comings with oversized equipment.

Yes, it looks like a ridiculously short belly putter and can't say I like holding halfway down the grip. Looked like Cabrera's putter when he won the Masters, only uglier ;)

it is an ugly beast, but it did work for me.. just couldnt get past the looks, so stuck a fat grip on my current putter which helped me.. i do really like the spider blade though....
