This post is especially for people who have an adjustable length putter. Our club offered a free putting clinic recently. I went along along nd it was really interesting.

Long story short putter is right length, right lie and my stroke is solid. However because my putter is adjustable I have too much weight at the grip end impacting on pace generated in the putt.

Tried a different putter. Same stroke, better pace and tighter dispersion. So useful food for thought. Also found that I actually found mallets easier to align than blades which is another important learning point especially for those shorter putts.

What I thought was good was other people being given putting stroke advice - essentially told your putter is right for you but you need to do some work.

Will I be changing my putter? Possibly but it was a useful eye opener. Anyone else's club do sessions like this?

adjustable length putter

What?

I cant think of any reason for buying these other than when you come to sell it you havent got a short shaft that cant be cut down.

I think you need to change IMO, get fitted and take all doubt out your mind.

It sounded like a good idea at the time :o

To be honest alignment is something I need to concentrate and take more care on. The main challenge with the current putter is pace. I'm looking at options in the O Works range but not rushing into a purchase

Just reviewed the Ping Wolverine mallet on my blog if you want an unbiased opinion on that. My club get Odyssey and Ping in every year to showcase their putters and they do a "mini" fit with their adjustable putter to give you an idea of length and lie to suit. Gives you a chance to try all the various styles. Of course its such a personal thing so its essential to try before you buy.

Thanks Martin. Just had a read. I tried the Vault range and have looked at the Sigma but am put off by the sound. I've got a Scottsdale TR and think the grooves do work but I think based on sound the O Works is where I reckon I'll turn.

Will let you know what I decide to do. ..

Not all the Sigma range (as far as I know) make that distinct "ping" off the face. Only tried a few mind. Stick around, I've a review on the O-works Fang coming soon on my blog and youtube channel (this weekend)
