but was it breaking the rules if any rule?
Yesterday while playing in the North of Ireland championship, I noticed a man and a woman walking very closely behind my 3 ball. I thought that they were with either 1 of my playing partners. Turned out they were ball spotting for the group behind.
Now..........having noticed the guy really make himself stand out, by no way was he hiding himself. I did notice him walking round the green (very closely) then walking back towards the group and talking to one player, (likely being his son). Only thing I could come up with was that he was reading the lines for him. The guy had a caddy aswell.
I did notice on the 7th green the guy didnt come anywhere near the green. The officals were at that green. He kept doing it after that. We reached the 14th hole, a guy from my club was there, I told him to watch this guy at his work. yep indeed he did it again. Started to head backwards towards the group but noticed my friend watching him. He stopped in his tracks, didnt go near them.
IS this AGAINST the rules? is there a rule to cover such a thing? I'm playing today again and the same 3ball will be out behind us. It will be interesting to see if "mummy & daddy" are there. If so I think I shall bring it to the officals attention.
