Seeing as I know sweet nowt about football or cricket, and I enjoyed reading your fav album lists, how about computor games? I don't just mean the latest all action high def graphic PS3 stuff, but good ole' classics that we adored when we were younger.

For me it was Elite on the BBC B. Wire frame gaming at it's best. Trouble was it took 8 minutes to load from a casette recorder, and if you got the tone and volume levels wrong it didn't load at all. Never did understand why.

Manic Miner.

...and if i remember rightly , there was a follow up ? Jet-set Willy

I remember the damn music. That bit of Russian tune - over and over and over again and again......

I though that the music for Jet Set Willy was 'if I Were a Rich man' from Fiddler on the Roof and Manic Miner was Wagner's Hall of the Mountain King. Sorry, I know how sad I am

Whoa....how old are we?

I loved Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy.....of course.

Also enjoyed Chuckie Egg on BBCB (?) and the classic arcade games - Asteroids especially!

The magic moment for me was the arrival of Mega Drive (PGA Tour - oh yeh!) Lotus Turbo Challenge and....

.

.

.

Probably the most addictive game ever....SONIC the hedgehog!

PS I had a C64.....loaded from Cassette.....or not!

I remember playing the original Space Invaders on Atari Games Console. I went to bed, got up at 7.00 for school and found my Dad still at the TV, trying to win on level 12 "invisible invaders"......he didn't go to work that day.

The battle of the formats back then was hotter than it is today.

Commodore 64, Vic 20, BBC B, Sinclair Spectrum, (sure I'm missing one). And the consoles, Atari, Sega (any more?).

My old man only let us have the BBC B for its' 'educational' purposes, and would not even contemplate the 'games' machines, which all my friends had of course.

Arcade games for me was definately Afterburner. Had a mate that was top kid in Bournemouth Pier arcade at Defender, prefered Scramble myself, very similar but it was a bit easier than the very small graphics of Defender.

Shrewth - how much time / money did we waste down there!!

We use to have a donkey kong game in the canteen at my first job and I'd use my break trying to get to the end. Once I mangaged it the buzz was trying to beat my time/highest score.

Wouldn't be so sad except there was an onsite SUBSIDISED bar and plenty of fit young women. Where was my focus??? Schoolboy error!

Used to have an Atari 800 with a 5 inch floppy drive (no jokes please) and a cassette loader.

All the old classics like space invaders pong had them all, clowns and ballons, joust, BMX rider loved em all.

Then we got the SEGA MEGA DRIVE with.... wiiithh a MASTER SYSTEM converter. Sonic was just unbeleivable and I completed it so many times. Italia 90 PGA tour yes oh yes. And not forgetting the game that came free ALTERED BEAST.
Good old mortal combat anyone???

MASTER SYSTEM games included Alex the kidd, wow just the best game.

And what about the one and only PAPERBOY????

Jesus I am gonna have to get some of these off XBOX live arcade for old times sake!

What about Doom deathmatches on the PC before work / college network admins realised it was taking up all the bandwidth?

The best multiplayer action that doesn't involve wearing spiky shoes and swinging a bent stick!

Or Horace goes Skiiing which came bundled with my Speccy?
