Some drivers are bad for the ears

Went to the range yesterday and 3/4 way through my balls some bloke turns up with his lady. Straight away out comes the big stick and he is giving it the big one. I don't know what driver it was but jeez did my ears hurt. I hit another 3 balls and I could not take any more. The tinggg was painful.

Some of the old cobra drivers are hideous in terms of noise. Definitely the worst I've come across. I think the newer ones are better.

The Ping G30 has a sound like no other........in a bad way

That's surprised me. I was hitting one yesterday, borrowed, and the sound was fine. Maybe you hit it too hard 😁

What was interesting was that 9.5 10.5 11.5 setting down all sounded different - had my own orchestra going on!!

Forgot what mines called, it's the one after the G30. When I hit it well it sounds like thing of beauty. miss the sweet spot and oh dear. You usually know when it is hit well by the sound.

G ^^? I had a G30, great out of the middle but sounded like a frying pan on miss hits, unlike my old cobra fs9 I think? Sounded like a frying pan wherever you hit on the face.

Don't think anything will ever come close to the Nike Sumo. That was an assault on the eardrums and even worse on a range when it would resonate

I read somd article a while ago that said some drivers can cause permanent hearing damage when used in enclised driving range bays.

I can hit a ping g30 better than any other driver i have tried but dont use one as dont fancy getting tinnitus.
