After my thread recently about distances with my hybrid and driver I have been trying to find out what flex is on it. My hybrid says kurokage flex-a which after googling I couldn't find what this meant but today I've been at the Trafford centre and nipped in to American golf to have a look round and asked what flex-a was. The salesman says it would depend on your swing speed normally, (I think he thought I was asking if it would be suitable) i said my ss was averaged at 90mph and he said oh you wouldn't want that then, it's senior flex...... But this is the one sold to me at the hazel grove branch. I had 3 different hybrids to try out and this one I hit the best. But now I'm a little worried that once my swing becomes better and more consistent I might end up struggling with it even though I currently hit it well.

Even if it does change, it gives you an excuse to go shopping again.

Put another way, I'd be happy to take a loss on one club in the bag of it meant I hit the other 12 better

How old are you?

Seriously though, would you rather buy a club on the basis you might 'grow into it' someday or buy one you can hit well now (regardless of what some guy in a shop referred to the flex as)

I wouldn't worry too much about the letters, also depends on factors in the swing other than just plain speed. Technically speaking an A is softer than a R but then again I have an SS somewhere around 98 and have been fitted into an X in a 3 wood before and hit it really well

Now you know it isn't "right" for you, you won't hit it well again I'm afraid.

Interesting point.

Although made in jest perhaps, there can be some truth in that. Although my shafts are always S or XS, my current 3 wood had a Regular shaft in it when I tried it. I loved it straight away and got it, however I had to put black masking tape around the "R" on the shaft so I wouldn't see it. Every wild hook had me thinking about the flex, eventually I replaced the Reg shaft with a Stiff, much more control.

When the uncertainty is nagging at you, it's just a matter of time until you ditch it.

We can test this theory:

Bloke in AG told me the Garmin S6 Approach is specifically designed as a girls watch (although it will fit on a male's wrist)

Now we just wait and see how many appear in the For Sale section in the coming days/weeks!
