I currently play off 20 but I am playing in Spain where the greens are like lightening because they are so hard( I am not moaning btw), I usually play a distance ball but can't get the control. I have been told to use a softer ball, but I am worried they will cut up very easily. Advice please
Thanks Ian

they shouldnt cut up very easily if you get a decent ball, obviously you will lose some distance but you should find a bit more control around the greens. have you thought about the srixon z-ur? bit cheaper than the pro-v1 and you would still get the distance as well as good performance on the greens. enjoy the golf out there mate, im not jealous at all!

Try the Srixon Trispeed...i use it and its a great ball for around the greens and won't cost as much as the premium balls...i'm off 13 at the moment and hope that the trispeed will see me into single figures. I started using at 18h/c
good luck

Titleist Pro V are quite soft, as are Srixon "green".
Have a look at the readily available brands and check out the web-site and post Q?s here.

i used the Srixon Softfeels (green) before i move "up"....

I think they are a great ball, but just a little short.....then again I shouldn't use them anyway, they are for lower-than-average swing speed.

Not sure you can compare an AD333 with a Pro V but I do take your point. Have to concede that they would actually be a better choice than the NXT although not sure they would match the overall performance of a top end ball

its a bit of a jump from distance to Z-UR...i'd go with Trispeed 1st...

no not really, its a really great ball that will benefit most players, he wouldnt lose his distance, and would get better performance around the greens. If he goes to a really soft ball then he will lose a lot of distance from the tee which would leave him hitting longer irons to greens and then having even less chance of stopping a ball on there. You dont have to be a low single figure handicapp player to feel the benefit of using premium balls, I personally know a lot of mid to high handicappers who's game has improved greatly by using proV's and the likes. The AD333 is a decent ball but cant be compared to a pro V'1 in my opinion like homer said, but for the price of them they are a good buy.

The PX3 Wilson Staff balls are ace! Srixon ad333 are good slightly harder and the NXT I feel are too hard.

Playing off 20 I would go for the PX3 every time or the Wilson Staff DX2, I aint a Wilson Staff rep!

Found a Ad333 on the course the other day. First time ive had a chance to look at one close up and would concur- seemed a softer ball than the NXT's i'm using at the moment- was genuinely surprised.

Might buy a few and see how they go- do they cut up quick though?
