Soft ground problems

I was playing yesterday and with nearly every pitch I had into the green I was chunking it, the ground seemed quite firm at a glance but I was taking craters out of the ground, without even trying.

Anyone else had anything similar happen to them recently or am I way off?

Played well otherwise, new irons are cats pyjamas

so basically you were hitting the ball fat or am i missing something

In a way, but it felt like I nipped it but how soft the ground was it made it feel chunky
