I'm no expert but I am going to say I believe the ball in your case has very little to do with you hooking and slicing the ball. If it was a quick fix like you have been told we would all be on tour

Not necessarily - and it depends what with.

In a tests table I've seen for wedge shots - not sure what type - Soft Feel has 20% less spin than an AD333. Bridgestone 'S' versions have marginal to about 7% more than the non-S versions.

The Soft-ness is more because of the cover and top layer attributes.

I think soft feels are only really that in name!

All balls spin, and spin a lot! Over 2K RMP on most full shots (unless you think it), thats 33.3 times a second at least!

Its around the greens that you really notice it first, a "low spin" ball will not check up and stop as quickly as a "high spin" ball on short shots. You can compensate for it very easily with practice as its only a couple of feet on shorter shots.

The area I noticed it the most first is the pitch shots, these I could carry "high spin" balls a little further and stop in the same place as a "low spin". You might also find you can stop off the tee on a par 3s a little easier if the green is equally receptive, no chance if its a baked rock whatever your ball!

So when it comes down to it if you practice enough with a decent "low spin" ball like the AD333 then you can shoot good scores.

If you find yourself often unable to land the ball where you NEED to and have it stop quick enough on pitch and chip shots then FIRST CHECK YOUR TECHNIQUE before trying to fix it with more expensive balls, if your technique is good go down the different ball route.
