Played today in a society day at Dudsbury GC here in Poole Dorset , lovely sunny day , 21*C , We played a medal format from the white plates which is 6606 yards ,was surprised at the format i must say , with water in play on 14 holes I was 4 over after 4 as a result of carding a 7 on the 4th , 2 tee shots OB over the left mounds trying to play a cut as you can no longer go over the trees direct , Birdie with 3rd ball , Lever par after that to card a 75 gross and won . what was the prizes , a Taylormade and a Ping Golf hat , 3 golf balls , a nice big trophy and one for nearest to pin on the 11th as well and a new and latest Ping Driver , £280 i am told, now that is a nice day out .............anyone had any good society days out lately :)

Had a corporate do last week, winning team all got a GPS bushnell watch, longest drive got £200 in AG vouchers and nearest the pin got a two ball at Wentwork East with dinner B&B.

I didn't win any.

Societies I play in are normally a bottle of wine or whiskey for prizes

In Pro Am's I have won everything from shoes to waterproofs to putters to wedges and bags and gps and golf trolleys

Donated most of those prizes to a charity day we have with another society

Played a lot of corporate events with some very good prizes on offer and I agree, it's clear to see why banditry at these events tends to be an issue at times. Played some local societies and still had some excellent prizes like a VIP box for a Robbie Williams concert (proved very popular with Mrs H for fluking that one), tickets to England rugby as well as crates of very decent wine (no good for me these days but again, ideal gifts). To be honest I can never win longest drives and have to be very lucky to win NTP. I tend to just go out and enjoy the day and not worry

That's certainly a brave way to play the 4th! I was there a couple of weeks ago, played a nice easy hybrid up to the mounds, and then a mid iron in if I remember correctly! Not the longest hole, no need for a driver!

I do really like Dudsbury though. Just forgiving enoiugh to hit slightly loose shots, but can be punishing if you put it in the wrong places

On my years captaincy in our society I got a nice new golfbag signed by Rory and the winner raffled it off for charity which was a nice touch, Id dare say it is worth a little more now.

Out works golf day always has really good prizes, there's about 36 of us that play In it and the prizes are supplied by suppliers and work.

I came 4th this year with 32 points and got a nike method putter worth over £100 a dozen taylormade balls worth £25 and a paid day off work to go play in a 4 man team representing our work in a charity golf day at Matfen Hall.

Even the first year I played in it and came last I got a box of 50 lake balls and a bottle of rum.

i play a charity event each year that is run to raise money (obviously) and to have fun at the same time.

A four person team with fully fledged 'corporate' hcps entered, took it very seroiously. Should have seen their faces when the losing team all got ipads and their 'top of the range premium bubbly' for the winners turned out to be Mr Matey Bubble bath - priceless!
