Have been in contact with the club. The only Friday in April available (to make it easier for people to travel and getting days off) is Friday April 3rd 2009. The cost for bacon rolls and coffee beforehand, 18 holes and a 2 course meal afterwards is £65. I have actually negotiated this down to the 2008 price plus another £5 per head off on top.

I am led to believe this is also inclusive of a prize on behalf of the club for longest drive and a meet and greet service but I am waiting to confirm these are both inclusive. The prize was mentioned by the club in my initial contact, the meet and greet may have been an optional extra according to the pack but I am trying to get them to include it as I'm a member.

I need to know numbers to see whether this would be a viable option as my free time is severely limited at present and I don't want to be organising something that only a few people turn up for. MikeH has said there should be a prize from the GM good cupboard so it will be worth coming along for.

I know the location will preclude many of my forum friends, but Ascot is close to good travel links and there are hotels, travellodges and B&B's (particularly in nearby Bracknell). I know some of you have already posted an interest but now you have an actual cost if you can let me know who is definitely in.

OK I have spoken to the club and they have confirmed that for the money we get the pre golf butties, the 18 holes, the two course meal (roast beef looks good and has always been pretty tasty in club matches) and the club will supply the prize for the longest drive. They haven't come back to me about what it is yet. GM have also offered a prize.

I'll need to know definite numbers by early January and will PM anyone who has registered an interest so that we can arrange payment. To make it viable I'm going to need at least 20 people and we could adjourn to a nice tavern in the evening for those wanting to stay down for a couple of beers and post round analysis.

There are a few yes votes on here (AliB has contacted me privately as well - Barb it would be good if you can boost the female contingent) and it is a Friday so what better way to start a weekend.

I am 90% sure I can attend this Homer, just need to check on work. Getting the Friday off won't be a problem but as it's a fair old trek for me I'd like to try to get the Saturday off too so that I could stay over somewhere. I will confirm attendance within the next couple of days.

Hi Homer
Good work! To be honest more than we would normally pay for a day out, but would be good to meet up with everyone. Do you have an idea of start time? - I guess not crack of dawn - so we could do without overnight stay.
Off to check date re uni and school terms - will get back to you.

Smiffy's there!
Managed to convince my boss that I'm going to a wedding on Sat 4th April, so I've got a couple of days off.
Will be interested in stopping over on the Friday night somewhere (cheap!) but will have to drive up on the Friday morning so hopefully the teeing off time won't be too early.
Coming up from East Sussex coast, and the M25 on a Friday morning can be havoc.

I'm going to try and negotiate a 10.00 tee time but that is really dependant on numbers. I'm also trying to get it down by a further £5 to £60 per head but again dependant on numbers so get saving.

There are several travellodges in Bracknell that will cost about £7-10 to get to from the course and a very nice local (my local as it goes) that is within 10 minute taxi from Bracknell and 15 minutes from Ascot

Ascot's okay though.....hic

My old hunting ground, I lived in South Ascot for 19 years. I can still remember stagering down Station road after a skinfull in the Horse and Groom........is it still called that?
