So you own a safety deposit box bank in Hatton Garden... You have been robbed and half of the safety deposit boxes you look after for you clients have been opened and emptied. There is a huge hole on the wall of your building.... What do you do to secure the other half of the boxes??? You cant just gaffa tape some ply board up.... You do not have access to the boxes without the client being present...

Also, Your the insurance company of a safety deposit box bank who get robbed. The Police hear the alarm but think nothing of it (some how?????) and then admit they herd it and ignored it.... Do you pay the insurance money or is that now down to the police to pay (the tax payer)

Thoughts?

the police will not be held liable for the loss - the insurers will pay out for those who have insurance.
from what I read some people had boxes that weren't insured and lost a fair amount of goods which I find amazing but that may be because i'm an insurance broker and can't understand why people don't buy insurance!

Total guess, those not insured want to be very very private about what is in there box and what value it has. An insurance certificate may be seen as a paper trail.

I reckon with safety deposit boxes, you have either something very valuable you want very safe and in which case you would be insured, or you have a secret you want know one else to know about, in which case you would not.

Yep....hard to disagree with these two statements!

When I eventually get my first hole in one, I'll put the ball in a safety deposit box :D
