So, after getting all giddy about the jpx forged, turns out they aren't for me, tried them for a few weeks, every day at the range or playing at least 9, I just could get on with them, not sure if it was the shafts or the mcc4 grips, but just never had real control of them through the bag, I wanted to love them just didn't, great club I'm sure just not for me.
I used the 30 day satisfaction at AG and went to change them, spent some time with a great lad, tried lots of stuff and found the taylormade psi tours were giving the best numbers, tried 5 shafts and and funny enough the kbs I had in my RSI was what felt best, so I have spent 400 quid changing to ultimately the same as what I had, the psi on the course and range are excellent, feel great, flight is what I want and also feel the control is there, however, no real diff for the RSI I had, which I loved, just got done in my head with the shine of the mizzy and the double trade deal at ag. So yep I'm 400 quid lighter, but I'm back to being happy with my irons, so that's a plus.
I guess the moral of the story for me is that I should just stop looking and be happy with what I had, and stop being a numpty.
👍
Also ditched the M1 for an M2 but with my shaft, but that's a whole other story .... 😱

Thanks dcb, the mizzy were fitted, but as with most the fitting was hitting 6/7 irons, found the offset something I didn't really like, and the grips were just too thick, the 89pw, are some of the most used in my bag, but just couldn't get the same consistency I had been used to in the RSI tp, I reckon I must have got through 1500 range balls and in the end I grew to dislike them more so I went back to something I was happy and comfortable with.

I had to give the psi's that I had from new (custom fitted, etc) back to my club pro as the failures throughout the set (build quality) were too frequent. Face slots failed, ferrules failed, amongst other things and I spent so much time sending irons back and do little time with a full set I sent them back via the club pro, who was very helpful throughout.

I did a bit if investigation online and found that the failing Taylormade faceslots was a common issue and when I finally handed my set back to my club pro he had received a set of RSi irons which had face slot failures in the same place in the iron face where my irons had failed.

The build quality of the irons for the amount paid was not good enough. The irons were OK from a performance perspective but no more than ok. I've swapped to a different brand and wouldn't consider any Taylormade products in the future.

I understand your post entirely, I had the JPX Forged for about a year and never quite hit them, or scored with them, as well as my Callaway X2Hot irons. Eventually I did the AG trade in with a straight swap - my JPX's for a new set of TM RSI 1's and no money changing hands, and I've only had a couple of nett over par rounds since

I guess it comes down to what works for you not what they look like

You had psi tour forged? Or standard psi?
I have to say my last 3 sets, ex the mizuno have been taylormade, have had the RSI tp, rocketbladz tours before them and had no issues.
I guess it was just unfortunate for you, I'm hoping these go well for me.

Hey James, I'm sorry to hear that buddy. I thought I was the only one that happened to, I got fitted a couple of years ago for the Mizzy 825 pros in an S300 shaft by my Club Pro. Beautiful irons but I just could not get on with them, hated the heaviness of the shafts and seemed to thin everything, I had them 6 weeks before I moved back to my cobras. It's such a shame as I loved how they looked and when on the odd occasion I did pure one they felt amazing. I am going to change in the new year and I don't think I would look at mizzies again, which probably is daft but I used to worry when I had them, about playing golf cause I knew I couldn't hit them. I'm thinking the cobra fly z plus irons could get a really strong look in. Good luck with the new irons.

Thanks mate, I wouldn't rule anything out for yourself though, there is lots out there to choose from, hopefully these psi tours will get me back on track, so far so good too.
New year will def have to get a game in!

I got fitted for the cast 850 shovels. Didn't like them when I got them, don't like them now. I'm not a big one for feel, more looks and sound. Both worse than what I had, just that they're a bit more forgiving. How long they'll last is anyone's guess..

that sig is looking a bit out of date 😀

Haha yep sure is, have to get it sorted lol
Strange isn't it how things can change quite quickly, think in future a fitting for me will constitute hitting all the irons not just a couple.

I was the same with Mizuno wanted to love them even tho i was fitted wrongly ( another story ) and very happy with my Callaway Apex, M2 driver whats your thoughts JT, tried one at the range at night but couldn't see it finish

Night and day to the M1 for me mate, stuck the rogue silver in I got with M1 and it goes great, I'm working on my driver swing at the minute, but at lesson other night it was carrying 30-40 yards more through the air, great launch and penetrating flight. I would go with the Fuji shaft though, there are better opts in my opinion. Forgiveness is excellent too, hit a couple ropey ones yesterday and still went out there, very pleased so far.

Its what we do for Fun James & to stick with what your not happy with would be ruining that , if your not enjoying it then the membership fee would be an even bigger waste of money ,

Strongly thinking of Trying the M2 but current RBZ Stage 2 is a bit of a weapon when i swing like i should ..

917 on the radar aswell just other one is behaving well so changing for sake of changing goes against my grain ha

Too right Bill, def happier at present, wish I had your ability to stick with what works haha
I tried the 917 and didn't think much of it, and I loved the 910, it was great but since that Titleist drivers haven't worked for me.
I left my g30 for an M1, which was stupid as it was the swing not the club, never really got on with M1 and the m2 so far is going in the right direction, so long may it continue, if you do change I would really recommend trying one as the forgiveness and distance are cracking.
