I am now membership-less, had to let it go after getting not enough benefit for the cost involved.

So what decent pay and play courses are there in surrey?

Am still keen as mustard to play as much as possible!

Silvermere, though I haven't played there for years. The original nine holes were very nice, and I assume the newish second nine have matured now ? Lovely clubhouse overlooking the lake on the 18th.

Really depends what part of Surrey you are in - as it's a pretty big county.

Most members clubs will actually do a P&P rate that is not normally exorbitant.

As for genuine P&Ps: Pine Ridge, Downshire and Blue Mountains (my 1,2,3 order of preference) are fine in the Bracknell area - if a slooow round at weekends. Tilgate Forest is pretty good in the Gatwick area and would second the Silvermere suggestion - also not been there for some years.

Silvermere is ok. Get's very slow on weekends though and quite muddy in wet months.

Where abouts in Surrey are you and what sort of budget to pay and play?

Couple of my favourite reasonably priced pay and plays Pine Ridge and Bletchingly.

Where where you a member?

Other very good pay and plays are Hoebridge in Woking and my club Hurtmore just off the A3 past Guildford. Its a very decent track for not a lot of money. But judging by your clubs it might be a bit short for you if you like ripping it.

Pine ridge is a decent track but can get awfully slow.

Puttenham [off the Hogsback] do £80 fourballs between 3-5 pm.
Nice awayday on a good course for £20.

40 years since I lived in that neck of the woods. What's the average price of a Muni Round on the above courses?

silvermere is my local club and was a member there, am in walton on thames, so have played there loads.

am interested in spreading my wings more!

some good suggestions though chaps! keep em coming.

I'll be posting in the arrange a game section soon no doubt!

If you can get in to the American Golf on the A3 at New Malden they were giving away a load of voucher packs for Pyrford (just inside the door on the right), lots of 2for1's and 3for2's. Pyrford is a lovely course. Not long but lots of water and you need to be steady off the tee.

Forgot Hoebridge - apparently, new green-keeper a few years has made an immense differense.
Laleham does pretty good afternoon deals (after 13:00) - £15 during week; £20 weekends. My 'nearest' really.
Pyrford is better than OK; I'd rate it better than Hoebridge which is naerby also, so grb those vouchers.
Sutton Green is in that neck of the woods too and would likely do some sort of reasonable green-fee (I got a tad lost when I went, but that's male motor-cycle navigation!).

Out of interest how often will you realistically be playing and how old are you. I'm wondering if there are any deals on country/age related membership that may help
