Head Pro
As a relative newbie to golf, I've been struggling with inconsistent ball contact - so much to the point that I didn't want to go and play a round on a par 3 course with a friend even, as I would never be able to consistently his clean contact with my tee shots.
After my second one on one lesson, we have found the problem, and I can't believe how much difference just a slight change in setup makes!
Yesterday my pro realised that although I was rotating my upper body well on the backswing, I was deliberately trying (thinking it was the correct thing to do) to keep my hips in line with the target. I wasn't moving my hips at all on the swing.
By introducing a smooth hip rotation with the takeaway, he had me hitting ball after ball with nice clean contact, that I am now feeling really happy that I have found the "barrier" that was preventing me improving!
Only a small step in my golfing journey, but it's absolutely remarkable how much more confident I now feel! Before I was hitting like 40 out of 80 balls with a nice clean contact, and now straight away it's like 70 out of 80!
I know...cool story right
