Did anyone else find that the Open was so exciting because Tiger wasn't in contention. Whilst Tiger is amazing to watch if he is leading going into the final day it's just all a bit predictable. I bet the players get so tired of Tiger running away with everything too.

I agree, Teetotal.

What made the Open the best in years was the unpredictability of the result. All the players in contention were capable of mistakes...big ones. Most golfers are. The fact is that when Tiger is leading the result is entirely predictable beacause he doesn't make any that cost him.

It's what made Seve so good to watch. You never knew what he was going to do next. But he was vulnerable...remember the 1986 Masters. It's a bit like watching Alex Higgins or Steve Davis. The vulnerable guy was the more exciting to watch.

Absolutely not, any true golf fan should love watching the genius of Tiger constructing a near perfect round. His ability to play regulation golf and consistently two-put from anywhere on the green was a pleasure to watch. Even after making a few bogies he was able to hold it together and finish strongly to capture his 13th major title. Ernie summed up how the players feelings by showing Tiger the respect he deserves and Bjorns comments about playing with Tiger in the final round where he said how much he enjoys watching Tiger construct a final round in a major pays him great tribute.

I think Tigermania is inevitable given what the great man has achieved in the game. Sorry tee-total but it's only going to grow as Woods gets closer to Jack Nicklaus' magic number 18! I reckon he'll get there in 2011. Any advances?

How can anyone be bored at watching the greatest golfer of all time play near perfect golf-his 63 on Friday was a joy to watch.

We should be thankful we can watch Tiger chase Jacks major record.

I reckon we will overtake Jacks record by the end of 2010-thats 6 majors out of the next 12.

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments regarding watching Tiger's golf.

However, in the last day coverage of the PGA we saw Tiger:

Peeling a banana
Getting a lift to the tee in a buggy
Wiping his brow
Doing nothing..

We then had a recap of his play on 7 occasions.

There were 75 great pros playing, do we really need the above or would we prefer some, god forbid, golf from someone else??

Not bored of Tiger. Bored of Tigermania! The previous post says it all.

Actually very happy that he is so predictably better than the rest as I had a wedge on him at the USPGA. No, not a lob wedge.
