Played today, another point 1 and a complete and utter nightmare. I shot a snowman today! 80 bloomin blows and I just cant get my head round it!

My course management is so f@#%ed up its unbelievable! 80 blows of a wee white ball and I didn't even lose any balls! I hit it well enough off the tee and still shot 80! WTF!!!!

Putted OK, didn't hole much but at the same time I didn't three jab. My short game was dire, simply dire. Got up and down twice today. Couldn't get up and down for a date with Cheryl Cole, although I may have used a more sexual term when I was telling Algar5 about my golf today.

I cant work out yet if it was my short game or my approach play which was the problem today. I'm guessing its a mixture of both.

Strangely enough, looking back I genuinely don't think I struck the ball "that badly" however the old adage, "the scorecard tells no lies" springs to mind.

Not the start to the season I had hoped for. 4.9 to 5.3 with two holds and the rest point ones in the wrong direction. 36 holes on Sunday in the CCQ's and it could be up to 6 for the first time in 18 years!

Golf its a bloody stupid game!

cheer up thecraw, cos the next time you play it will be a bloody good game! thats why we play. at least you played today i was ahem er otherwise engaged this morning to get out of bed! and missed the second round of our classic. but imo i still scored well :D

It is the definition of golf. I've been battling all year to make a score. I can have days of striking it well but missing greens and others where I drive it badly and manage to knobble it round with a half decent total. I think maybe you need to stand back and look at the bigger picture. You're striking it well and so you just need to reassess where the shots are going.

I think I'd give the game up if I hit 4 bad rounds in a row.

I mean, I've managed one decent round in 14 months and you don't here me complaining.

( Well you would if you could be bothered to listen, but I'd still prefer to be in your position )

;)

i feel your pain, but mine was 2 seasons long, my handicap went from 5 upto almost 8!!

youve just got to keep plugging away.....itll click one day and youll have a caddyshack and love our dear game once again!

Hey Craw

All I can say is that you are going through exactly the same thing as I was up until about 2/3 weeks ago. I could not get that ball up and down from even the most simple lies off the green. I too wondered if it was my iron play that was the problem but tbh I always miss plenty of greens even when i'm playing well. My short game was basically diabolical for my h/c and consequently headed up to 5.4 from a 4.8 start.

Hang in there mate , it will come back probably when youre least expecting it too. I've now worked it back to 4.6 with 3 good rounds and i'm starting to get the old touch back around the greens. Its just an inner confidence thing and the smallest thing will trigger your game to get back to its previous best.

I feel your pain and Birdieman does too from his previous posts. Just work harder on the short game area and it will get better ( I hope ;))
