So a few weeks ago I posted about getting a driver and a few of you said I was lunatic. Snelly was not only forthright on this point but also provided an alternative at an incredibly reasonable price. He genuinely wanted to help me and the big dog arrived today. Took it down the range tonight. Now it might look like it's been inadvertently slammed in a car boot, and have the most god awful sound on impact (truly horrible dull clang) but **** me it goes ****ing miles!!!!!!! In the bag for Saturdays medal and I'll measure one on the GPS but this thing is seriously long and great to hit. Snelly you are a ledge! Thank you! :D

The first time I used my XLS (monster) down the range I did notice the other guys looking to see what i was using as it sounds like a baseball bat hitting the ball...!! I am a fan of the head if I am being honest...but I could not get along with it and think it was becasue of the Stiff Shaft and 9.5* loft. So...it's on Ebay as we speak and I took delivery of my S2 Offset today.
Took it down the range as lunch and out of 50 balls I hit 40 straight and long.
I went to course after work to do some putting work and as it was beside the first tee and it was quiet I tee'd one up and let rip...again straight and about 230 yards....Roll on Sunday.

Tiger...I am a big Cleveland fan and am gutted the club was not for me....Hope it brings you some decent drives and low scores...!

Yeah baseball bat noise sounds about right...very strange sound. Struggled at first getting my position right and hit a few left but got to grips with it in the end and was hitting it long and pretty straight. Very happy with it :) Shame about yours but it sounds like the Cobra issuing a grand job for you.

PS Bob you'll be pleased to hear I got the hybrid working as well ;)

When I played as a kid, the hardest club to hit was a wooden driver, and it was the biggest difference between low and high handicappers. The new drivers are so much easier to hit, and whenever I play with high handicappers it seems to be the easiest club for them to hit.

Looks like I've missed a trick in waiting two years to get one

Tiger, can I be the first to say, "I told you so". :D

I'm sure your handicap will be coming down in bucketloads now.

And yes, Snelly is indeed a Gent.

Golfmmad.

Yes of course you can :) ... BUT and it's a big but not having one for two years has helped the rest of my game enormously. I've had to work hard on my swing and short game. I've hit a lot of long iron shots. I've toiled with my 3 wood which has probably helped in making the transition to the driver. I warrant it's probably about 3 months late but the confidence I have in my all round game will help my course management no end. If I'd got a driver a year ago I'd have been battering the course with it on practically every non par 3. I walked through the course in my head yesterday and I'll probably use it 3 times on the front nine and 5 times on the back.

I think having it earlier would have helped me make quicker gains on handicap but waiting, I believe, has made me a better player with better course management. But we will see. Only hit it on the range last night, taking it to the course is a whole new ball game ;)

I am delighted to see you are pleased with it.

Good luck when you take it to the course!
