hehehe....

The perfect matchplay between Lefie and myself saw off Smiffy and Co in a show of force [cough] and PERFECT dovetailing matchplay. :D

The dream team (that's Leftie and me in this instance) put in a gross score of 2 over par and the match was over by the 13th green.

I started with 3 pars before carding a poor double bogie but no worries as Leftie stepped in birdying that hole and followed it par/par/par/par :p Best we managed was a bogie on the 9th so we were out level par.

Leftie started back with 2 pars before blowing up on the 12th.... which I birdied and we were back under par. He then went on bogie/par/bogie/par/bogie/par whilst I watched from the sidelines (well, from the trees mostly).

2 over par and that's forgetting about the 12 or 13 shots shots that Leftie gets. In all I think he had 6 or 7 net birdies.. it was worth waiting the extra 30 min for him to turn up!!! :D :D

As ever Smiffy (and Co) were great company and promptly got the drinks in. Leftie of course won the individual stableford with about a billion points, maybe more! :p

Good fun and the course (Highwoods) was lovely.

Cheers guys!

Not been a good few days for Smiffy and his wallet. The great thing about him though is win or lose he'll always play with a smile on his face and is a great host/guest. Leftie is a dark horse and I remember playing him at Lydd and he is rarely in trouble and consistant. Get his putter warmed up and he must become an unstoppable force. I haven't played with justoneuk yet but have heard stories about how talented he is on his day.

Glad it was a good day out and that the golf (well some of it) matched the glorious conditions

The dream team rolls on :)

When my back is a tad better, we'll have to find you some proper competition.

I have to agree that Highwoods is a darn fine course, and Smiffy is a great host as well.

Glad it was a fine day out.

:)

Hang on....
I don't mind losing a match, but only if I'm actually playing a match!!
How can you play a fourball as two twoballs????
Due to the stupid teeing off restrictions at Highwoods, between the hours of 12.00-2.00 fourballs have to go off the 10th. Two balls only from the 1st tee at these times.
As the 10th tee was absolutely chocka, we decided rather than wait an hour we would tee off the 1st as two two balls and that's the way it stayed until we joined up as fourball on the 10th later on. There was no "cut and thrust" of matchplay going on at all, even over the back 9. We were playing an individual Stableford!
On that basis, none of my matchplay strategy came into play...the odd little cough at the top of the backswing, the jingling of tees and ball markers in pockets as the other player was putting, the giving of wrong information over yardages all that sort of thing.
If I'm playing in a match, could you advise me of such before we actually tee off????
;)

Thanks for the game today lads. Leftie did in fact play superbly. Other than the two cock ups on 2 & 3, he played superb golf. Best I have ever seen him play.
And I'm glad you enjoyed Highwoods James. It's a lovely course with some superb holes. Greens are getting better each time I go there. But it desperately needs some rain on it to bring it back to it's best. Give it another month or so and it will be superb again.
Looking forward to tomorrow. You will enjoy Khalid and Gregs company. They are two really nice guys.

LOL. :D
The distractions were noticable by their absense, I thought it was a new strategy :D :p

I might have to move into your spare room Smiffy and play Highwoods as my home course. It obviously suits my game :) :)

Great day, as ever, in great company.
