Time for a new phone that won't cost the earth. Not going to stump up the kind of cash needed for an iPhone so was looking at the HTC Desire S.

Anyone got one or other recommendations? :)

I don't have one but my Son has an HTC phone and absolutely loves it.
Daughter has an iPhone but my Son rates his HTC above it, and I think my Daughter might swap over to one once her contract runs out.

I think it's the "Hero" but not sure.
Why do you need to know Bob?
Like you're going to get one
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I might well be.
I've had my present phone for 2 years now and it's showing it's age (no comments please )
Do they have good cameras? 5mp?

The Hero doesn't and is old technology now. I have one. It's a good phone, but it's sluggish.

The Desire HD has a 5MP camera though I believe. A woman in our office has one. It's a good looking phone.

And you can't beat Android IMO (and I love Apple products, owning a Macbook, iPad and iPod so an iPhone "should" make sense).

I will be upgrading to the latest HTC Android phone in December. Plus you can use golf GPS apps "legally".

AZ, Just a quick question mate, played with a guy yesterday who had a I Pad2 in his bag and was using the GPS on it to get yardages etc,he was new to the game and was not sure if he could use it in competition,I wasnt sure either,PS, Sorry to hijack the thread...

Feck me! Bit of a large GPS to have in your bag!!

The iPad doesn't have a built in compass (I don't think - the 3G version may have) so it's legal. If it has a built in compass (that cannot be removed) then he can't use it in competition play.

Thanks mate,When he took it out of his bag,I thought "what the hell is that",there was I using Freecaddie on my little phone, just getting yardages, and he has a full overview of the hole!!!!

Jesus Rob, technology really has come on in Wales............must have been one hell of an exrension lead he had though!!!! :D

ohhhh...... not again..... :D ;)

It does depend on what you want on the phone as most of the latest smartphones are very good but the latest reviews have the Samsung Galaxy S2 just ahead of the Iphone 4 and the latest HTC Sensation. Both HTC & Samsung use Android apps which are excellent.

If you shop around enough your get the iphobe4 at a decent price. HID just upgraded from a htc to iPhone, about £35 a month with t mobile gets her unlimited text - web and about 600 mInutes. I think she paid 40 for the phone.

I'm currently paying 60 a month but with 1200 mins.

I have the HTC Desire S, only had it a few weeks and very happy with it, depends if you need the latest and fastest phone and want to pay exorbitant money for it or not i guess, the desire S is more than competent at anything Ive thrown at it
