Hi
I have just bought a smart tv with the intention of using it in my caravan. I paid for wifi and to get the wifi you logon to the caravan club site and put in your password. However, I was informed by the technical team of the tv that i bought (a Bush from Argos) that Smart TV's only work on router based wifi like you have in your home not on cloud based wifi.
Anyone come across a smart TV that will work on Cloud -based wifi?

It all depends on how you log onto the WiFi

If you have a WiFi access that requires you to log on to a portal page then your smart telly might struggle as a lot of Smart Tellys don’t have a browser ( or one that opens without internet ) to allow you to open up tbe landing page to put your code in

If you have been given a PSK to connect to the WiFi signal then it will be ok

In my experience of working with WiFi af Caravan Sites they don’t tell you about the need for a browser to open up a page ( it happens at Haven sites )

That’s the problem with public WiFi hotspots - you have to use a landing page to access it and a good number of smart devices like TV , Xbox etc don’t have browsers to allow you to open up the landing page

Hi
When you select the Caravan club wifi on the network selection page it then says 'its connected' but of course it isn't until you provide your login details on the landing page. There is a browser capability which takes you to the landing page but then won't let you move down on to the login section so you can't login.

Then you will need to look at the remote instructions - there will be keys that allow you to tab through to the area on the landing page you want

Would that sort of wifi even provide a strong enough signal to avoid crazy loading times or buffering?

ps. TV is what?

I can ask as my parents are wardens for the Caravan and Motorhome Club (as it’s now called).

They used to use one of those mobile network hubs for which you buy data only contracts and sims. Worked really well but wasn’t great for extensive streaming due to data caps.
