After a torrid few years of poor golf ,through injury, illness and old age,I decided to use my new hip operation to kickstart my game.
My handicap has gone from 13 to 19 mainly due to lack of length so decided to see a local Pro for 6 lessons to give me a proper start to improve my game.
Asked to hit a 7 iron on a flightscope gizmo with my usual set up I achieved 52 mph and a distance of 78 yards!!!!!
After a dramatic widening of my stance and some strengthening of my grip plus a little more explanation of how to get a bit more zip into my swing, great improvement.
62 mph and 90 plus yards!!
Have I got the slowest swing speed on this Forum?
The Pro reckons he can, with a lot of work on my part,up my ss to75 mph.
We will see.

Welcome to the slow club.

I had a club fitting earlier this week and registered 62 mph too!

However I am a middle-aged woman with runty little spaghetti arms. What's your excuse?:D

Wish I was as young as you NM.
When say old I mean old!!!
My arms are getting stringier by the minute, still being shorter off the tee these days at least I can still see where my ball finishes most times.

Hip replacements bring a whole new lease of life, I just love what I can do now with both resurfaced - keep plugging away

Does it matter. Trust your pro and enjoy being able to play again. Lot to be said for keeping it in play!
Of course it matters if you still play at least one qualifier a week, or a least it does to me.
I think homer you think I am moaning but no,I am exceedingly proud to be playing off 19 at the grand old ge of 76.
My thread was a bit of a boast that I had increased my ss by such a percentage with one lesson,5 more to go.Who knows ,if I live long enough I may reach forum distances!!
The self deprecation I used was actually tongue in cheek.

I think you're doing exceptionally well and I hope your hip gives you a new golfing lease of life. I hope your other lessons give you more and more speed and that it leads to cuts. Wouldn't it be nice to lose that pesky shot and just have one per hole. And then seventeen, and on to sixteen. All by 77!!!

Crikey your right, I might be able to get the buffer zone!!!

You might get to the moon!

Seriously though, I wonder as you get used to the rotation with you new hips and the like how much quicker you can get in a safe way. Could be a fun journey as if your hips deteriated over time you might not have noticed the deteriation so much.
