sldr mini vs driver

Surely you would then need to change the COG on the head etc etc

Or just try one and buy one to add to your vast collection

Good lucky trying to buy a Mini i called all the local big retailers in my area and they all said out of stock and they said they run out very very quickly.

I wanted to try one now considering X hot 2 Deep

I've got one :p - it's awesome

But I was one about the first......:ears:

Just looking forward to the new shaft arriving now to see how much better it goes.

played with another person that is now a convert. He hit his driver and caught a good one, then hit my MINI and could not believe it was only just behind his driver. He had a couple of goes with it and could not believe how easy it was to hit. Goes without saying he was calling Golfsmith on his way home to get one.

I am just wondering could you just loft your driver up and cut down shaft to sldr mini length

You could, but it wouldn't perform in the same way. The reason you need to left up on the SLDR is because of the design of the head and the position of the CoG. The CoG means that the driver is naturally low spinning (too low) so they increase the loft to get the spin up to the right value. Lofting up on another driver will most likely just increase the spin to a too high value and cause the ball to balloon and lose distance.

I bought a 12 degree version, at first it was great but before long I realised that it was in between clubs being marginally longer than my 3 wood and marginally shorter than my driver.

Lovely club but not as versatile as a dedicated 3 wood and for that reason I let it go.

So how long did it take you to work out that a club slightly longer in length and slightly lower in loft than a 3w, and slightly shorter in length and higher in loft than a driver, would end up going somewhere in between in distance? ;) :p

I wouldn't bother.., grip down an inch or so on the shaft and **hey presto** you've just saved yourself £359.00 on a new driver!!!!!

Stuey it's a club you have to try.

I don't have a high swing speed and wasn't getting the best out of the club. One of my playing partners who has a higher swing speed hit his as far as his driver with more accuracy getting approximately 250 yds down the middle every time. I sold mine and bought a Cleveland Classic Driver, 3 wood and 5 wood for the price I sold the club for so all in all, I'm happy with the way it worked out as the Cleveland fairways are bombers and the driver is very low spin which I was looking for.

Oh I definitely want one. I would carry driver, mini driver, 4 or 5 wood. Nowhere has them though.

Just couldn't resist taking the mick :)

I was waiting to get one from DG but snapped up exactly what I wanted from karlcole on here. Can't wait for it to arrive as my driver has been the most erratic it has ever been the last few weeks. Lesson booked for Tuesday to sort that. I hoping to carry driver, mini, 20 degree hybrid, 4 iron if all works out ok.
