Just had a last minute call to take part in a works day out at slaley hall tomorrow.Has anyone played the course? Any tips/advice on how to play the course?.I am a 12 handicap.Playing the Hunting course.
Played it on a golf weekend last year, great set up.
My tips would be to keep it on the fairway and hit the greens in regulation (OK, I admit I can't remember much about the exact details of it as my memory is like a goldfish).
Hi mate. Front nine is by far the better of the two nines, it's a decent course so I'm sure you will enjoy it. Most of it is in front of you so you will be fine.
Good luck its a very very hard track especially for high hcappers like myself..greens were fantastic when I played..ive never played the course 'dry' yet....
I played both courses in the IBM National final two weeks ago and was really disappointed in so many ways. The Hunting has a nice front nine in terms of hole layout but the bunkers were in an appalling state and the course was typical DeVere management in ripping you off from the minute you walked through the door. No-one from the 30-man field in the event had a positive thing to say about the facility overall. Shame because it could be better but I would imagine their return rate from visitors is not good.
Played it last month, both courses... First tip - Bring your wallet. It's an expensive place to visit. The Hunting course is superior, especially the front 9. I really enjoyed holes 7, 8 & 9, but it tails off a bit after that. Expect a 5 hour round as well (and thats a minimum).
Enjoy.
