skycaddy sgx ?

Sean, If I remember rightly, when the subscription finishes, your stuck with what ever is on the unit its self.

Although I may be wrong.

If it's like SC5 you can only use what is on the base unit until you renew so if you wanted to add another course it won't do it. I imagine the SGX won't let you download your scores or stats either if the account isn't active

Another thing I remember being posted here if your sub lapses in May and you renew it in Sep then it only gives you until the next May!!

So once your subs finish you can use the 20 courses you have already downloaded without renewing the subs? Or have I got that wrong?

Am pretty sure that when the subscription lapses, courses are no longer available - not even the ones your have already downloaded onto the machine. The only ones you can use are those you have recorded yourself.

You can't subscribe for, say, one year, get the half dozen or so courses you're really interested in, then let the subscription lapse & keep the courses. Am afraid it's all or nothing - keep paying & have all the courses, stop paying, no courses.

Mine were all wiped off a while after the subscription ran out. I then tried to renew about 2 months later and it wanted to back date to when it lapsed, which wasn't accetable. I had to de register and then re register to start the new subscription from the current date

Of you could just get a sonnocaddie.
No fees,
no memberships
no hidden costs
Free course downloads
By the product, keep it for ever (and all your courses)
It's a no brainer for me.
Unless of course you have an iphone.
No, wait, compass,

Yeah, courses wiped but you can use it to map any course you like yourself and use it like that but not much point really. I also thought you may have to pay a reconnection fee if it lapses for x amount of time. Sure I read that on an email from them when my was set to expire in August, may have mis-read it though.

Or the Callaway uPro.

I paid £150 for mine - a brilliant bit of kit.

I don't understand the GM Skycaddy love-in! Over £300 for the unit and then £30 a year? That doesn't represent value for money to me.

My downloads are free (basic mode) and I get a stats package.

Auburn

not sure if you saw but Callaway have made the pro mode courses a lot cheaper, think its £40 for life (compared to £100 for a limited amount) so they are well worth having nowadays

I hadn't! :D

Even more reason to get one! :D

Thanks very much.

I'll back the Sonnocaddie shout. Vig has one and its pretty awsome. Big colour screen, tracks your round. Gives you all the yardages. Allows you to edit etc.

I have the free app on my Iphone.. and... as its the old 3G, I don't have the compass :D
